Camel Apple ‘Jello’ Shots - Shopping List

10 small granny smith apples
1 envelope knox gelatin
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup coconut milk
2 drops yellow food coloring
1 envelope Land o Lakes caramel hot chocolate (Regular would do just fine if you can't find caramel)
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butterscotch schnapps
Lemon juice

It’s Time to Get Creative in the Kitchen

Step 1: You’re going to need a little elbow grease for this step. Half and hollow out your apples cutting them for the stem down. If you have a melon baller handy, it is a great tool to use to hollow the apples, if uses a knife and cut around the edges, using a spoon to scrap the center out.  Once you’ve won the war with your apples, squeeze a little lemon juice on top to reduce the browning.

Step 2: Now that the work is done its time to have some fun! Mix 1/2 cup water with your envelope of hot chocolate in a medium sized sauce pan. Whisk to make sure all the chocolate is combined. Then add the 1/2 cup of coconut milk, whisk again.

Step 3: Sprinkle your gelatin on your delicious concoction and let it sit for a few minutes. Turn on low/medium heat and mix the gelatin until all of it is combined.

Step 4: Now that the basics are out of the way, it’s time to add the good stuff. Add ¼ cup of sugar and simmer slightly until it is combined. Add drops of food coloring until you get your desired ‘caramel’ color. Let the mixture cool to warm and then pour-in ½ of butterscotch schnapps.

Step 5: With your apples placed on the cookie sheet, pour your caramel ‘jello’ mixture into them and refrigerate overnight.

Step 6: Once you are ready to serve, cut your apple halves into quarters. If you happen to find any brown spots on the side of the apples, cut off.
