Thanksgiving Trends

Since Thanksgiving is next week I thought it would be fun to talk “Thanksgiving” all the time until the big day then we can move onto Christmas, yeah! Don’t you just love this time of the year, family, food and presents – what could be better? As with everything in life each year brings a new trend and this year is no different. You can’t change too much when you're whipping up a Thanksgiving feast but there is always room for a new twist. Let’s discuss the trends for a fabulous 2011 Thanksgiving dinner.

Tradition is always in and this year is no different, 2011 is all about traditional comfort dishes and familiar holiday flavors. 1) Cake is out and pie is back so ditch the flour and pullout your good-old-fashion glass pie dish, it's time to start making those delicious apple, pecan and pumpkin pies – deserts that could never disappoint. 2) Ginger is taking over cranberry sauce, just add a pinch to punch up the flavor. 3) Throw out that bad-for-your-body corn and bring in the greens, green beans and brussel sprouts are the "in" greens this year – DELIC! 4) Like mushrooms? Well you’re in luck because they have managed to sneak into the stuffing from shitake to portabella, you name it and you can put it in your stuffing.

That’s pretty much it. This year is all about simplicity with a focus on family and the ones you love - enjoy and have a wonderful day Shea Apartment Communities residents!

Have you seen any other Thanksgiving trends that are expected to make the table in 2011?
